The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client is desktop software that secures traffic between your computer and restricted campus services. With the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client software running in the background, network traffic is automatically routed and encrypted using Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) over SSL or Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Once Cisco AnyConnect installed in the system go to start and type “cisco AnyConnect secure mobility client” and open the application. Note: If you can’t find “Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility” Download and install the “Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility” you can ask your company helpdesk to provide a support on installing the application.

1. Adding Cisco AnyConnect from the gallery To configure the integration of Cisco AnyConnect into Azure AD, you need to add Cisco AnyConnect from the gallery to your list of managed SaaS apps. Sign in to the Azure portal using either a work or school account, or a personal Microsoft account.
2. AnyConnect Plus/Apex licensing and Cisco head-end hardware is required. The application is not permitted for use with legacy licensing (Essentials or Premium PLUS Mobile). AnyConnect may not be used with non-Cisco hardware under any circumstances.
3. When to choose AnyConnect. Cisco AnyConnect offers a simple, effective VPN with basic NAC controls for reducing an organization’s risk surface. It meets a standard requirement for remote access in companies already using SDP, ZTNA and CASB solutions to administer usage policies outside the perimeter.

Installing the VPN Client

1. Download the AnyConnect VPN client for Windows. Note: If you're using Microsoft Edge, the program will download as a 'sys_attachment.do' file. You will need to rename the file to 'sys_attachment.msi'
   • If you have the Windows Surface Pro X tablet with an ARM-based processor, you should download the AnyConnect VPN client for ARM64.
2. Click Run on the Open File – Security Warning dialog box.
3. Click Next in the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup dialog box, then follow the steps to complete the installation. NOTE: We recommend you un-check everything (Web Security, Umbrella, etc) except for the VPN and the Diagnostic and Reporting Tool (DART). This will give you a minimal install. The other features are not supported so there's no need to install them.

Starting the VPN Client

1. Go to Start->Programs->Cisco->Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to launch the program.
2. Enter vpn.uci.edu in the Ready toConnect to field, then press the Connect button.
3. Select your desired connection profile from the Group drop-down menu:
   • UCIFULL – Route all traffic through the UCI VPN.
     • IMPORTANT: Use UCIFULL when accessing Library resources.
   • UCI – Route only campus traffic through the UCI VPN. All other traffic goes through your normal Internet provider.
4. Enter your UCInetID and password, then click OK.
5. A banner window will appear. Click Accept to close that window. You are now connected!

Disconnecting the VPN Client
