Audacity for Chrome OS (without Linux workaround) I'm teaching an audio editing workshop to 4th and 5th graders, and the students are all on different OS's, but mostly they're on chromebooks. The Linux workaround for getting Audacity on Chrome OS is too involved for this age group.
Audacity is Available as an Extension for Chrome
For years podcasters, musicians and audio technicians have relied on Audacity to edit their audio files.
Typically you can download the open source software from SoundForge.net and it is available for PC and Mac.

- Discover great apps, games, extensions and themes for Google Chrome.
- Audacity does not run directly on Chrome OS, but Chrome OS 69 or later support running containerized Linux. At time of writing, Linux support in Chrome OS is experimental – refer to Google support for information about running Linux applications on Chrome OS.

The other day I was browsing the Google Chrome Web Store and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Audacity is available as an extension for Chrome.
UPDATE: THIS EXTENSION STOPPED WORKING!!
